Columbus, OH – This past week has been filled with a lot to celebrate. Not only have Thanksgiving and Black Friday come and gone, but trailers to highly anticipated films have finally been released. The trailer to  Jurassic World was set to be released on Thanksgiving day, but came out two days earlier as a huge surprise to fans. A few days later, the trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, was released.

Jurassic World is set to hit theaters next summer while Star Wars: The Force Awakens is set to hit theaters next December. Fans of both movies have quite the wait to see the long-awaited sequels to some of their favorite movies. One fan of the Star Wars franchise is seeming to have a harder time waiting than the millions of other fans.

Carl Withers, a Software Engineer who lives with his mom in Ohio’s capital, is planning to cryogenically freeze himself for the next year, to wake up December 18th 2015 for the premiere of the new Star Wars film. The thirty-year-old Mountain Dew enthusiast has started a Kickstarter campaign to raise $200,000 to freeze himself for the next year. In only a week, Withers has managed to already raise $110,000 with plenty of time left to reach his goal. JJ Abrams, director of the Star Wars sequel, has donated to the cause and has heavily promoted the campaign on his social media accounts.

If all the money is raised, Withers will be frozen on December 18th, 2014; a year prior to the release of the film. Cryogenic researchers are planning to follow Withers’ journey to see if it is even possible to freeze someone for only a year and bring them back. Withers said he is alright with the risk, stating “Either I see the movie faster or I die trying. I can’t think of any other way to honor Star Wars.”
