Lesson 1: Cooking Boneless Chicken Breast

Microwave or Oven-Baked Boneless Chicken Breast

A good starter for many easy dishes is cooked boneless breast of chicken.
When I say, “Use cooked, shredded chicken” in any of my lessons, you can refer to this Lesson #1.
Now, you could buy cooked chicken at the super market or you could cook your own and save money. You will have more creative freedom, if you cook it yourself. All chefs like that.  I know because I watch Top Chef. Or you may want to just save money.
Here is an easy way to cook boneless breasts of chicken to be used alone or in other dishes to come.************************************
Place boneless breast(s) in a glass baking dish. Be sure it will fit in microwave. Fill to the  middle of the chicken with water, salad dressing, BBQ sauce, or salsa.
Cover tightly with plastic wrap or a microwave cover. Or place in a microwave steamer.
Microwave on High Power for 5 minute intervals. Using pot holders, check for doneness. Thicker breasts will take up to 10 minutes.
You will learn the best time for the size you have. I promise.
(Practice makes…)Be careful when removing wrap or cover. VERY HOT STEAM.
Chicken is done when it is no longer pink. Juices will run clear.
Let cool. Shred the chicken with a fork. Scrape up any suaces in glass dish. This is a picture of the breast done in water and the onbe done in Ceasar Dressing.

For cooking in the oven, cook at 350 degrees for 30-45 minutes.
