Hollywood, CA – For the past decade or so, Hollywood has been known for remakes. The main goals are to make more money and bring that story to a new audience. But really it’s just to make more money.

Recently, we’ve seen remakes of films like Carrie, True Grit, and a reboot of the Spider-man franchise. Hollywood has also just announced that along with upcoming remakes like Godzilla and Robocop, they are planning on remaking Forrest Gump, the 1994 Best Picture that starred Tom Hanks.

In order to capture a new audience, the film will be in IMAX 3D and will star Zac Efron.

“Forrest Gump is an iconic movie,” producer Zach Weinberg stated. “It still holds a special place for most demographics,  but that’s not enough. In order to capture the younger demographic, we thought IMAX 3D along with the popularity of Zach Efron would really help out. Also, 2 Chains will be proving the soundtrack.2 Chains will be covering hit songs from the original movie, like Creedance Clearwater Revival’s “Fortunate Son” and Buffalo Springfield’s “For What It’s Worth.”

The film will be hitting theaters in the summer of 2017.
